Young Gifted and Talented Accredited Provider MUSIC CARRIES EMOTIONS FROM INSTRUMENTS THROUGH YOUR EARS. But how does this work? Which music makes which emotions happen, and what different things come together in music to make us feel and think certain things? This isn't an exact science, but for anyone who wants to make music that other people respond to, or to appreciate the music they hear, it's an important area to know about.

Through talk, interactive games and online investigation, pupils will:
  • consider what music is to them
  • explore more deeply and explicitly how certain pieces of music make them feel
  • discover some of the basic ideas of how musical melody and harmony work
  • play musical games, to see where music and meaning overlap
  • learn concepts like intervals and analyse different kinds of rhythm.
  • start to create their own pieces of music for different emotional purposes
All they need is a bit of experience of listening to music.

Why does the gifted option cost? This sort of thing used to be free for London state schools...

Did you know that the funding model has changed for gifted and talented students in London? Before, the money was given to a company (LGT) that provided free resources. Now the money is going direct to schools for them to spend on a wider range of programmes. Ask your headteacher about funds available for gifted students.
